Indonesia menjuarai Piala Thomas 2020 setelah mengalahkan China 3-0 di final. Dalam pertandingan yang berlangsung di Ceres Arena, Aarhus, Denmark, Minggu (17/10/2021), Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto, dan Jonatan Christie menjadi pemenang.
Saat penyerahan piala dan pemutaran lagu kebangsaan, tidak ada bendera Indonesia. Pasalnya, Indonesia sedang mendapat sanksi dari Badan Anti-Doping Dunia (WADA).
Badan Anti Doping Indonesia (LADI) telah meminta maaf dalam konferensi virtual dengan Menpora Zainudin Amali dan Komite Olimpiade Indonesia (NOC Indonesia) Raja Sapta Oktohari. Menpora saat ini juga meminta maaf kepada masyarakat Indonesia.
“Saya sekaligus mempertegas apa yang disampaikan LADI tentang permintaan maaf tersebut, saya juga meminta maaf atas kejadian yang membuat kita semua merasa tidak nyaman dan nyaman,” kata Zainudin Amali.
“Kami seharusnya menikmati kegembiraan memiliki Piala Thomas kembali di pangkuan kami setelah dua dekade, tetapi kegembiraan itu telah berkurang karena tidak bisa melihat bendera Merah-Putih berkibar.”
“Atas kejadian itu, saya juga minta maaf kepada seluruh masyarakat Indonesia. Ini akan kami tangani dengan serius. Mereka yang nanti terindikasi menjadi penyebab kejadian ini tentunya juga harus bertanggung jawab. Ini tugas Pak Okto untuk mengusutnya. dan dipercepat,” katanya.
Indonesia tidak mampu memenuhi tes doping plan (TDP) 2020. Menteri Pemuda dan Olahraga beralasan target sampel doping tidak bisa tercapai karena kegiatan olahraga dihentikan selama pandemi Covid-19.
Indonesia juga belum memenuhi sampel TDP 2021. Pekan Olahraga Nasional (PON) yang merupakan salah satu sampel uji doping baru dimulai awal Oktober lalu.
Dalam surat resmi tertanggal 15 September 2021, WADA meminta Indonesia segera memberikan sanggahan atau klarifikasi. Batas waktu yang diberikan adalah 21 hari sejak surat pertama dikirim.
Namun, hingga batas waktu yang ditentukan berakhir, tidak ada jawaban dari Indonesia. Oleh karena itu WADA mengirimkan surat ancaman sanksi untuk memberikan penjelasan rinci
